Ancient Plumbing Pipes:

Among the types of pipe commonly used in plumbing history, clay, cast-iron, and copper are often seen. There were a lot more types of pipes used at various times. Bored stone was used, at a very early date, and many Roman water conduits are of bored stone. Wood was used, in the form of troughs, hollowed-out tree trunks, and even a sort of lashed-plank pipe.

We don’t see much tree trunk plumbing these days, and bored stone is consigned to antiquity. But we still have clay, cast-iron, and copper. In addition to a wide selection of more modern materials, your plumber can still include clay, cast-iron, or copper pipe in your next plumbing project.
